How do I create an SPF record?
Spam detection grows in sophistication, Internet Service Providers use Sender Policy Framework (SPF) authentication to scan incoming emails for spam or spoofed addresses. If an email fails this authentication, it is more likely to be sent directly to a spam or junk folder.
If you are using a custom domain, you can help ensure your emails sent through AthletaDesk reach your athlete's inboxes by modifying your domain’s DNS Records. You'll need to add or modify a TXT record for your domain.
Generate your SPF record settings:
- Click "Settings" in the top right-hand corner and select "Business Settings".
- Select the "Email & SMS" tab.
- Click the blue "Learn More" button from the "Deliverability Report" prompt.
A popup will appear that will detail the SPF and DKIM records that you'll need to use. Use these details to create or modify your existing TXT Record with your domain provider.
Tip: SPF should be set up with a "TXT Record", not an "SPF Record"
The idea is to achieve a level of defense against fraudulent email, such as phishing and spoofing, that could erode an email recipient's trust in receiving email. The act of sending authenticated email does not necessarily assert that the email is good or wanted by the recipient. It only means that the mail is being sent from a reputable source, and can help increase email acceptance and potentially increase deliverability.
